When Malcolm and Pearle Marr’s lessees decided not to renew the contract on their 12,000 square foot building in downtown Phoenix, the couple had to make a decision about what to do with the newly vacant space. The historic designation of the building was important to the couple, and Malcolm explained that the family wanted to “do something that will enhance [the location’s] designation.” 

The Marrs decided that one big thing missing from Phoenix’s downtown scene was an event center, and the building at 441 W. Madison seemed perfect for the role.

“From the inside, it is a very modern building because we had redone it about 10 years ago,” Malcolm explained. Clean, contemporary white on the interior makes the perfect canvas for virtually any event, while the classic look of aged red brick creates a bold contrast outside. In fact, the building’s “rustic chic” appeal is one of the primary features drawing business from all over the valley. Events such as weddings, bar mitzvahs, quinceaneras, corporate events and even fashion shows have all taken place at Madision Event Center, and the location is accepting new reservations all the time, offering individuals and businesses around the valley with a much more personal alternative to renting hotel space.
